Jay Brown is an American artist who delves both feet into visual art expression, experimenting with both traditional media and digital techniques.

Brown describes his art as “abstract impressionism.” Bold lines and rich colors paint the picture of a daring and curious artist. The subjects receive the painter’s full attention and command it from the viewer.

The vibrant imagery brought forward by the artist summons a heavily personal concoction of stringent lines and sharp colors. The impressionist influence breeds skepticism and uncertainty. The paintings, a variety of still portraiture, naive art, and attention-oriented abstracts, combine thoughtfulness and innocence.

In an immersive, gouache-based simulation, the bi-dimensional landscapes become a playground for the viewer, while the portraits themselves become the witness, as if Brown’s art itself is the critique of the comedy of life.

Fine art has been a medium of storytelling for ages and remains one for creators like Brown. In the progressively digital world, the spirited use of classic materials like pencil, gouache, or oil is a refreshing way of expression.
