Working from the Philippines, Chris Climaco finds meaning in the spontaneous, shooting street scenes with a raw, accidental beauty.

Through black and white tones and unexpected angles, the author reaches toward connection. Loneliness turned into a shared presence.

There is a diffuse, unspoken intimacy between the artist and the viewer. An understanding that whatever may be presented or showcased has a hidden meaning. That even in the mundane, there is sacred geometry; that even in the insignificant, there is magnitude. For instance, four chairs sitting in line at the edge of light, untouched by shadows, or three scooters seen in three different, imperfectly framed states.

Paying attention to the surroundings is an act of courage—courage to notice and acknowledge—and through that, invite others into our world.

In this debut issue, 16 artists from around the world took part in an editorial experiment where the theme emerged organically from the submitted artworks, shaped by what they had in common, and not predefined by editors.
