USA-based photographer Mike Hamar started his artistic journey by editing photos. This passion evolved into taking photographs with editing restricted to a minimum.
Hamar’s photography is distinct in the way that he effortlessly preserves moments and scenes without too much, if any, interference. A promoter of authenticity and, in a way, an ambassador of the unrepresented, the photographer aims to turn his one-shot techniques towards the discarded and the abandoned.

Frames such as lost objects and stray animals force the viewer to take a close look at images they would normally turn away from. Through flash photography and minimal editing, Hamar’s body of work represents a collection of lost and found, a perpetual effort to extract meaning from the meaningless.

In the 3rd issue of RAWGUE., 24 visual artists and poets share a common pursuit: authenticity over perfection. The subtle art of becoming, the passage through various stages of artistic contemplation, the ever-shifting states of mind, feeling, and medium, or the act of altering reality to underline emotion or meaning – metamorphosis.

We’re a team of writers using our craft to spotlight art in its most honest form. RAWGUE. started as a bi-monthly editorial experiment where each issue’s theme is dictated by the submitted work, thus removing editorial bias from the equation and preserving a more raw approach. We focus on all forms of poetry: written, photographed, painted, drawn, and filmed.
